Talk about India, from India with you

Good morning/Good afternoon/Good evening my friends out there! This is 11:30pm. 5th June, 2013, Wednesday in India. Sorry friends, I haven’t able to blog for one week due to physical problem. I know that you understand. This week, I will post two recipes for you in the ‘Flavors of India’. Hope you will enjoy them.

Friends, today is the ‘World Environment Day’. In present situation of the world, this is the most important day for us! Pollution and lack of tree will destroy our Mother-Earth one day and to save the world, I think, this day is a most important day. Let me tell you about the invention of the day.

World Environment Day is a yearly event held to raise global awareness of the need to take positive environmental action. Known as WED for short, it is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is really a climax of environmental activities being undertaken all year round by UNEP and other organizations and individuals around the world.

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Another resolution, adopted by the General Assembly the same day, led to the creation of UNEP. It is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of June 5.

On the occasion of the ‘World Environment Day’, we have to do something sincerely for our Earth. A few easy ways, you could contribute to save Environment: 1. Quit smoking to avoid air pollution; 2. Say no to plastic to avoid creation of many harmful gasses which are cause of global warming; 3. Add house plants to your home to help in maintaining temperature by adding moisture to the air and reduces airborne bacteria, fungi and other unhealthy pollutants; 4. Start your day early not only to keep you healthy but also will make you save energy and cut down your electricity bills; 5. Conserve electricity by switch to Fluorescent light bulbs, be sure to unplug your machines like TV , computer etc before leaving for a trip; when buying a new refrigerator, air–conditioner or any other electrical appliances you should check the star rating. 6. Kitchen waste management is also necessary. It generated acts as fertilizer so can be used in house plants.; 7. Use Public transportation to help in reducing the demand of petrol and traffic on roads ; 8. Save trees by reducing the use of paper to save the green Mother-Earth.

A big danger is knocking our door, and this is the time when we have to wake up and think about the Earth and say go green.

Well friends, that’s all for today. Take care of your family and children and of course yourself! Have a good day/ afternoon/evening/night! Namaskar.
